TFCC over ip
Well what can we say about this match. If you read the predictions nobody gave TFCC a chance at all. iP was this indestructable force that we had played before and came back on in rd2, only to lose by a very narrow margin. For some reason ip doesn't like TFCC, oh well our feelings are hurt about it but we trudged in held our composure and began rd1 even after the very interesting exchange on the konspiracy boards.
Rd1: Into the ip server where pings appear to be OK, with ip having a slight advantage. Most of them are east coasters. The action starts off fast an furious and Duck and "undisputable" are going cap for cap. I feel like it's two heavy weights going at each other. On the D side let's just say that neither clan is winning the award for being steadfast and holdign their ground this round. Pretty swiss cheese like and ip takes the round 260-240.
Rd2: Remember when I said that ip people are mostly if not all on the eastcoast. Well TFCC is trying out a new server from gibsgaming and it's on the west coast. Imagine the howling that came from the east coast. I swear I can still hear them dropping their f-bombs, and fags, etc all the way here in the midwest...wait that was all over MM1, that's why I could hear it. It was right in front of my face. ip complained of some potshotting etc that we were allegedly doing, and anyone that plays TFCC knows that we will go out of our way not to do this, I'm not quite sure what reputation ip has...but I'm sure you get the point. ip continues to potshot our flag carrier in the yard. I maintain calm on the offense until one of ip's offensive solly's turned around and killed Duck in the yard with the flag. Well Monty stated that he would be the only one responding, I said fine. He would occasionally fire a shotty (atleast not a rocket) at their scout just to help him across t!
he map, so he wouldn't have to waste a conc. I thought this was very nice of Monty, but ip disagreed. We said they needed to have their solly cool it, thing simmered down for another 5 minutes or so, then escalated again. By now TFCC had gone hog wild again on the ip defense, but the TFCC defense had held fast. TFCC did hold a ping advantage on the server, except for ip.mitten who pinged the best. ONLY ping over 200 was one of our guys. So we hold them, they get more and more frustrated and let loose their expletives, ban us from their channel, and deny us the logs.

Some specs on the server based on me and my system.
Running on a comcast cable connection with a node on wich I am currently the only subscriber
amd athalon 2500 XP, 1 gig ram, geForce fx 5200
Every other server in the US I run:
rate 20000
cl_cmdrate 100
cl_cmdbackup 2
cl_updaterate 45
at start in your server, my choke was 85, loss 75
adjusted to 15000, 75, 3, 35
this made my choke/loss 45,35 and made it so I did not have to prime my grenade five times to get it to go.
I then adjusted to 8000, 35, 15
this got me to 15/10
MY evaluation of your server is that it is terrible (at least for me). I know a lot of east coast servers are terrible for west coast players. That is why we have a server in Chicago so that everyone can play. I guess we are just like that.
oh well, gg TFCC, you won. You all deal better with a Chicago server, than we deal with a weat coast one.

GG tfcc, there were a couple ip guys that were definitely assclowns, glad to see you could stoop to their level in your writeup. As for your server, I did a trace to it from my connection and got a whopping 18 timeouts before actually getting to your server. That doesn't mean just bad ping, it means choke and loss, and it was obvious with the 10 minutes I came into your server, as I was teleporting and dropping frames like crazy.
Anyway. Hope you enjoy your title, we'll see ya around again I'm sure.

I'm sorry you didn't like the write up. I didn't call you a bunch of faggots, or swear at you, and maybe you weren't used to that. I'm just tired of you guys whining. We played a very close round with you in round1 and lost by only 2 caps. Some of your "assclowns" continued to potshot etc, and that's what touched off some of the bad feelings. Looking at the logs, I can see that there were 2 - 3 trouble makers and the remaining of you were actually trying to get them to stop. To that I thank you, but even your leader was rude to me, when I said nothing of the sort to him, so bah, we're even in our matches, I'm sure we'll face each other again. As stated it was actually a fairly clean match up until the end. For the server troubles this was our first time on the server and we are currently still in the evaluation stage of it at this time.

GG TFCC, and GL next week. But the comment about potshotting...your O sold hit me at least 10 of my runs as a scout with the flag. So in round two when all seemed hopeless I just went O soldier and still held back, but I evened it out I hope. If you really want to see your "reputation" for not potshotting you can watch my demo.
Also, we're definitely above bronze, but if you look at our [-nZ] match also on torch2, we're terrible on this map. We've never had a strategy set going into the match...honest. We could lose to any clan in bronze on torch2, but beat any clan on any other map for some reason.

Just some facts to go with the rhetoric flying around here.
1) Our server located in San Jose. It is hosted by GibGames (www.gibgames.com), who have a very good reputation and have been in business a long time.
2) This was our first match on our new server, having just left Recon Gamer (where EVERYONE complained about the quality).
3) In choosing a server, we looked at a LOT of hosting sites, and had all our members ping more than a score of different company/location pairs so we could find the best one FOR OUR CLAN. If it doesn't ping quite as well for our opposition... well... that's why the rules state, "Each clan will have a choice of their own server for each round."
4) Omega, if that's your traceroute, then the problem is in your routing/IP and not our server. You're timing out every step of the way, indicating that your IP has poor connectivity to the nodes along the way.
5) Mexi, you think YOUR clan sucks on Torch2? Check out our past record on the map: http://www.konspiracy.org/?div=tfc&action=clanmaphistory&clanid=955&clanid2=0&map=273&submit=View. The only clan we've ever beaten on this map disbanded in shame immediately after. :) One of the reasons all the predictors were just handing you the win was because of our 1-5 past record on this map. We practiced hard coming into this; if your clan didn't, then don't belittle our win because of it.
As SOUNDMAN said, it was obvious that most of the crap was coming from about three very loudmouthed individuals, to the point where they seemed to be embarassing even the members of their own clans (judging from the repeated comments from multiple others to 'STFU already'). Round 1 was a good, close, mostly clean match that ip took by two caps... but just about anyone that has ever played TFCC knows that we are a Round Two clan. The number of matches we have lost when ahead after one round can be counted on one hand; the number of matches we have WON in come-from-behind rd2 victories couldn't be tallied on all your fingers and toes. I won't say that our ping advantage made NO difference, but I don't think it was nearly the factor that most of your guys are making it out to be.
I now see in an STA9 forum post complaining about our server that your 'average ping' is up to 260, while ours is down to 60. Just amazing how much bigger the fish get every time the story gets told, ain't it?

So our team ping of 160 didn't have anything to with your round 2 come back. torch2 is a concing map. When you totally remove any chance of the other team concing you pretty much fuck them over. You knew it and you ignored all our requests to play on a different server and we asked you before r2 even started.
Another clan on my bad list, so have fun the next time we play. If you can get out of the respawn.

Bookrat: I'm not downplaying it. You beat a "bronze giant," a team that barely is bronze. I can tell you're not spectacular on the map, and you probably did work harder. We have issues as a clan (as in listening to leaders, taking orders, setting things up) that we need to get resolved, and that is why we are so terrible. Yes you deserve this win. No we can't win them all. However, the cheap shots taken by both clans are really uncalled for. Like I said on the Cats, the only thing I wished different was that round two was played on a more neutral server, but you didn't have to and chose to have the advantage. I don't blame you for it, I just don't think it's that nice. Like I said though, GG and GL next week.

I want to reiterate. My complaint is not with TFCC at all. It is the server alone, solely. I can not fault TFCC for anything.
and yes r1 was a hard fought game.
r2 was farcicle because nothing worked. My grenade timer lagged so bad, that when the timer said two, it went off on me. I was completely guessing at it the whole round. The adjustments I had to make just to be able to track people with my crosshairs are pretty dramatic.
That is all I was saying in the cats, and all I am saying here.

I think he understands the concept of 'trash talk' -- I know I do. Can't say as I'm real fond of it, though, and in some cases -- like this one -- it may seriously backfire.
Consider it. In one breath, members of ip called us no-skill hackers who blow admin dick and have no chance of winning; in the next, those same people were asking us to 'be fair' and not make them play on a server where pings weren't equitable. Umm... right.
Even if everything had been sweetness and light, I doubt we'd have been willing to forego our server last night; it was our FIRST MATCH on a NEW SERVER, and we wanted to see how it would play. Under 'normal' circumstances, though, we have often acquiesced and played both rounds on an opponent's server in the past, as long as there was no existing animosity between us. Any clan that posts comments like the ones above, however, reduces their chances of getting a favour from us to pretty near zero. Seriously... why would we go out of our way to do *anything* for a clan that talks like that to us?
I know that not everyone in ip was being a complete twat last night; things were, in fact, mostly driven by two or three loudmouth people who were embarassing even their own teammates. To those teammates who were TRYING to have a good, clean game (I remember Mittens and Ghost, notably, but there were probably others too) I say thanks, and I look forward to facing you again.
