BoA over GOM
well, server issues on both sides. round 1
their server freezez our whole team and 2 guys drop... they dont seem to be as affected as we were, but we still hold them off for 20-0 win. Rnd 2 played nice and close all the way they decided to go 6 D, but in the end send pretty much their whole team on O to try and tie it. They were unable to get it out as time expired. Yes there was an issue on our server with the cfg, but nothing was said, and i was unaware until after the match. I'm sure you will hear more about it, maybe a dispute. We stand ready to go with whatever decision STA decides, but are waiting on all the admins that are normally involved to make a decision as well. GG GOM

So basically if GOM had scored 2 caps and BOA had 1 cap and were moving the flag out of the base then discovered they had played a 25 minute round they would have just said GG GOM and we are lame for going to an admin over it. There isn't a clan out there that wouldn't have and I would feel that I let my clanmates down not to do so.
I guess that as many times as you have mentioned that your guys dropped your intention is to prove that you beat us playing short? Well if thats what you need to believe for your ego then I guess that the logs showing they were gone long enough to reconnect and be back in game in about a minute doesn't matter. You guys played a great match r1 I cannot deny you that, and it was as clean a round as anyone could wish for.
I fail to understand why you feel the need to discredit our clan. We did not go 6d (which is legal anyway), we did not send pretty much our whole D to try and get the last cap, why would we leave our flag open?, and I fail to see why that would even matter except you want everyone to believe that you could have possibly capped our flag after only touching it 5 times that round to our 29.
Round 2 was anything but clean with your O killing ours 19 times using any means available including infecting, how many O did you pull back to cover those flags?
The result is unfortunate for both clans, had the sta.cfg been executed this would have never happened, but I will not accept that you wouldn't have gone to an admin if you were on the other end.

I'm not sure where you get the vibe that we're trying to discredit you, the write up just states you decided to start out w/ 6 D and the fact is you started round 2 with 6 D - Slim was running swing engy for some of the round (building a sg on your cap while killing/shooting our O in your base). During the first flag capture we had an O fall back to hold the flag when it was on ramp which is perfectly legal.
In terms of the .cfg, yeah we probably would've gone to an admin to get some clarification on the rules regarding bad configs. However, the rules on the STA website clearly state what should be done in such a case as this and my guess is we would've been left with the loss. The fact that blacklab's "ruling" goes completely against a black and white rule just further discredits STA and its admins. Personally, I just think blacklab still has bad feelings from when we played redeye on 2fort and things got pubbish during round 2.

I have nothing against you guys talking to the admins, we would have done the same I would imagine - but the rules are pretty clear and if BlackLab's decision is not reversed (I would almost go so far as to say that he should no longer be allowed to be an admin of the league) it will just be another black eye in my eyes of a poorly admin'd STA league.
I thought it was a gg, extremely close and tense - all credit in the world to GOM.

Ok so the ruling has been backed up and we are forced to play on a date where we cannot even see if our guys are available. STA admins twice go against its official rules which address this exact issue at least twice. I must conclude that STA is a joke.

you want everyone to believe that you could have possibly capped our flag after only touching it 5 times that round to our 29
You guys seem to think you could have capped that flag as well. Our defense allowed easier access to flagroom and allowed for my touching of the flag but our D was also compact enough to end any movement quickly.
Your defense made it harder to touch flag but easier to move.
That is all.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for the ruling... I think it's bullshit but whatever. I might go install some wall hacks and use that Ac2 file seeing as the rules on the STA site aren't rules... but just guidelines.
*BTW - if the page listed as "Rules" are not "Rules" but guidelines, make the link say "Guidelines for Matches" or some BS like that.

gg gom you played a nice clean game
as for the sta admins kindly remove your head from your ass
the timelimit on serv was wrong fine
i dont blame them from disputing i would have
but u as admins should have looked at the rules and followed them
and thats not even what pisses me off the fact that you just give them a cap they didnt get on the off chance that they might have got it is just STUPID
since when do the admins have the right to just give unearned caps to a team because they feel like it

The logic of the decision being that they would have capped given 5 more minutes, doesnt follow the actual match. the one cap they got we held for over 8 minutes. I am not trying to discredit GOM, I understand how they feel. Others have basically summed it up for me. Any statements made in the write up were facts as to our guys dropping due to your server hiccup. The 6 d also a fact, not a complaint. I have no complaints towards GOM at all, not even the dispute or the ruling by STA (although I disagree with it 100%, as do most that have heard of it). I heard from a few of my teamates that you sent more O in an effort to get the last flag, if that is incorrect I apologize.

ok, so they gave us the cap, I looked through the match stats from both rounds and viewed the r2 demo. I think it is likely that we would have capped. The only other thing that could have been done would have been to play the round over.
Honestly guys try to imagine you are the other team for just a minute.

I don't need to watch any demos. For someone that viewed the stats and demo so comprehensively you missed slim building a few sgs and emping/shottying our O in your base.

^ Just an example. I could post some of our O deaths to him but am too lazy. I'm not raggin on your team for it, but you imply as if you guys played 5 D the entire round.

scope: i think gom defense was better than you givem credit for. They limited BoA to 5 touches, 3 of which where intial. The longest flag time BoA had was 4 seconds. I doubt you couldve done much movement w/ 4 seconds. your total was 7 so you prolly worked one flag a bit but that was returned. So not only did GOM restrict your flag room entrance but restricted your movement as well. The logalyzer also shows that of the 29 touches, only 4 of them where initial touches. implying that gom actually worked the flag after entry to fr. BoA also had just 2 returns.
http://clangom.edgz.com/logs/r2boa/
as for the rewarding GOM the cap, thats a bit controversial ill admit. i couldnt say unless i saw the hltv demo. I doubt you wouldve brought one of your own in those 5 mins tho. unless gom did drop all its d?lol.

I'm not understanding why you guys are trying to take the "we coulda capped it" route. Read the rules. Let's go over the facts before we look at the rules:
-I was in hlsw during half of rnd2 and noticed the wrong timelimit, so I asked if the config was wrong through rcon.
-I got no response.
-Entire round is played without anybody on either team saying anything about an incorrect timelimit value.
Now, read the STA rule page about server variables being incorrect. I'm not going to quote it because I don't wanna access the page until I save a copy of its state on the night of the match (in case a certain terrible admin tries to sneak in some edits behind our backs). Anyways, the page basically says the following:
-After 15 minutes of a round, if a server setting is incorrect, the rest of the round must be played and the settings for the round are indisputable.
Why did the admins look at this dispute? Furthermore, why did they make a ruling on the dispute that goes completely against what the rules state? This was a textbook case, but I'm sure the admins will try to make up something about it being "special".
I have nothing against GOM, I just don't understand how you can't see this and why you are trying to shy away from the rules when trying to resolve something that's so blatantly clear in them.

Once again, put yourselves in our position, the rule is an open ended rule. The rule should state that the STA config IS mandatory. Leagues tend to do this with many of their rules and just wind up with disputes that could be easily resolved. I think everyone would agree that us being awarded the cap is controversial, but the only fair thing to do would be to play the round over, so what is the difference. If you forget about the cap, and consider that the STA has decided to let an OT round decide this it does seem fair. It was a close match, one team made a huge mistake to their favor and now it can be decided by the one cap that has made this whole match an issue. Just forget the cap, and as I have said over and over try to look at this as the other team for once.
Yes I was responding to Scope's saying "n1" in mm1, I didn't see anything else. At the point where anyone from BOA noticed the cfg was wrong the match should have stopped and been restarted, after watching the demo I noticed that it occured early (i think within 5 minutes of the round beginning) and regardless of another team captain telling me no mm1, I would have made this an issue, and with rcon to the server restarted the match whether they liked it or not.
It always sucks paying for mistakes.

The point is that the rules specifically deal with just this type of problem, and the rules were thrown out the window for who knows what reason.
Re-playing round2 would be a much more fair solution - but even that is still blatantly defying the specific rules of the league. I ask black lab in a very civil manner for some clarity on his ruling and he can give me no more than a "I have made my ruling." and proceeds to treat me like an asshole.
So in the end GOM is given a cap out of thin air, and we are made to play another round at a time which we cannot even see if our players will be present.
Yes, it does suck paying for the mistakes of incompetent admins.

looks to me like you had the opportunity to agree upon a date. you *checked with whoever was in priv* and preferred wednesday yourself over monday. You opt'd not to ask about tuesday thursday but who knows. You had every opportunity to get another date for the match. So stop crying that you got forced into this. If it was really that bad why not just agree for monday? STA plays on monday by default so you should have enough players for that day anyway with or without 8ball. Since he wanted to play in this round so bad he chose a day he could make over a day most of the clan normally would make. Why he did this only he knows. So before you start crying foul play go holla at 8ball.

Ok, that is the whole conversation, and a little at the end that was rather amusing ;).
GG picking out the part where I was finalizing the day & times for the OT match and not the part where i was dictated to make a decision after I had said not many peeps left on irc. Yes, I did go to confer with the 2 people that were there, but was unable to make sure that the other 7 people would be there.
Also, I did watch the HLTV and it disputes what you have been arguing about, swing ng did play d as he was going O. and the"MYTH" that you had someone at the flag as the round ended, if you look at it you will notice all your O members at the flag were dead as the round ended. plus all the touches you had were pretty much from your one cap that we held for over 8 minutes!
Our displeasure was never about GOM, but the unfair ruling and "GIFT" cap that was given them of a flag in our base at the bottom respawn.

Rabidd: one team made a huge mistake to their favor
Douche bag, the fucking rules say its the visiting team's job to ensure that the cfg is run. Eightball says he ran it which I fully believe he did but sometimes you may not restart server properly or somet shit and it doesnt go. same thing happened in a 3v3 i ran a while ago... Rules even say its the visiting team's responsibility to ensure and double check the cfg has be executed properly.

Rabidd: Ok one last post, here is the part of the open ended rule that no one chooses to read or they just cannot comprehend:

That IS stated on the rules page. Gongrats for reading it! Now, read the line that follows it!
"In the event of a dispute, the STA has final authority. If the match has been played, no dispute based on server settings or conditions will be considered unless the server settings are changed after the beginning of the round."
What' does that say? If the match has been played, no dispute based on server settings or conditions will be considered unless the server settings are changed after the beginning of the round."
