Writeup:
nLv over -nZ
I've been asked to keep this one short, which I may or may not do... but I'll try.
Before I get into things, let me first say that I respect nZ and all of its players.
Tonight was certainly a controversial little matchup. Datawire was just recently banned from TFL, and we were a little worried about him playing tonight. Not to pass judgement, as I'm hardly a good judge of what a hack looks like - but typically a banned player in any league is enough to arouse our suspicion.
Aside from that, we felt fine with tonight, knowing that nZ always provides a clean and fun match.
Round 1
-------
As per usual our server is on the fritz, and nZ lets us do rd1 in their server. We actually practiced a bit tonight, since we missed waterwheel last week. At 9:30 we were so into prac that we just barely remembered we actually had a match, and headed into nZ's awesome server.
Things start off and neither of the 2 teams' rushes work as expected. We get set up and after a little troubleshooting, i find a nice spot for my SG. nLv takes the first of many caps in the first couple of minutes.
nZ's first cap comes maybe 10 minutes in when most of our D goes down and they slip one in. It wouldn't be until about the last 10-15 minutes that they would get their second and final cap.
The majority of the round was littered with brutal slayings by our newfound gremlin, Germ and Sub, who was, as usual, way above par, despite a throbbing peni-...er, headache.
The rest of our 6 man D just kinda chilled and ate nachos in the flag room. Sponge makes some nice saves on some concing nZ offense while psi, another new fellow, went 11-1 as our demoman.
In other news, Stratus came back to us tonight, after a long hiatus, and did very well backing up our front D, considering how long it had been since he had played. Last and most certainly least, I took the engy spot, and PIMPressed myself with a few disp kills - which is very much out of my character.
The nLv O rallies after its first cap and brings in an awesome 28 caps. Sid trails the offense, as usual. nZ spends a lot of time trying to pick the flag up, and not nearly enough trying to get it to the hole. Congrats to the nLv D for a great performance and some sexy returns.
Rd1 Offense: met, sid, mexi
Rd1 Defense: sponge, stratus, sub, psi, germ, me
Rd1 Score: 280-20 nLv!
Round 2
-------
Back in IRC I hear rumors of us being called sandbaggers. Well... to avoid confrontation, I decided not to bring this to light in nZ's chan, and rather to do it here.
Just so you know, and just so we have our stories straight... nLv recruited 4 people in the last 2 weeks because we had anywhere from 5-7 guys showing up on match nights for about the last month and a half. To claim that we're STILL sandbagging undermines the fact that we've been in bronze for well over a month, with our share of losses, and that we came to bronze after a massive losing streak and not having enough players.
We never were sandbagging in the first place, nor are we now. To escape scrutiny from people such as this unnamed accusor, who make clames based solely on the score, i suppose we should have kept our 7 active players and just played nZ 9 vs. 7?
it also seriously undermines the fact that 3 of our players in rd1 were new. Of those 3, only 1 had any significant effect on the outcome of the match (germ, playing Sol low entrance), and he has been a Bronze player for a LONG time. Our other 2 new guys were mexi (offense) and Psi. Psi was playing demoman. He had a whopping 11 kills. Don't tell me that's sandbagging or I'll cut you with a fish.
On top of that, we had me playing D engy. I don't play D, and I don't play Engy. We had Stratus playing again for the first time in months. That leaves sub and sponge. Sub has been with us for months, and Sponge has been with us for years.
Perhaps before you go throwing around words like "sandbagging" you should analyze your own status and play. The real question is, if Mexi, Germ, and Psi weren't playing that match, and we played you 6 vs. 9 instead, would we still have won?
The answer might surprise you.
Rd2 nZ doesn't have enough guys and has to forfeit.
Rd2 Offense: dead
Rd2 Defense: dead
Rd2 Score: Sid is ugly.
Final
-----
Aside from the sandbagger accusations, which always get my panties in a twist, this was a great game. We did really well tonight and nZ just wasn't clicking.
Regardless, they played clean and kept trying throughout the entire round, which says something about their character, despite forfeiting rd2.
A hearty GG to nZ, and best of luck to my beloved Datawire on sorting out all this controversy!
Final Score: 280-20 nLv!

It's also tough to get out of bronze with teams like BoA, eo, and formerly SIN, but we'll try :|

yall are nice guys, but honestly, you are sandbagging. its based on the quality of players, not the quantity (which is what you keep arguing). roster problems mean go inactive and recruit more, not drop a division and stomp everyone.

1) You shouldn't listen to anything rage says, he got tetanus while climbing over a fence he could've walked around.
2) When we were moved down, we were at -6 W/L and on a 4L streak. Since starting in bronze, we've lost every time we've started working our way up, usually to clans who belong in silver more than we do.

sigh. when will people learn? its not about WHO you have playing its about how well they play with each other. How many clans have been made out of platinum players that start purposely in bronze only to die after 3 matches because they lost 3 in a row? A whole bunch. Some people are simply good at certain maps and some aren't. Does that mean if we get shutout next week on fry_baked we're no longer sandbagging?
How many players does nZ currently roster that are ex-gold/plat players?

Oops, forget to mention that we weren't short for any of our last 6 matches in silver (as far as I can recall). Thanks edit button! :]

"yall are nice guys, but honestly, you are sandbagging. its based on the quality of players, not the quantity (which is what you keep arguing). roster problems mean go inactive and recruit more, not drop a division and stomp everyone."
you're kidding me, right? I don't even know if this is even worth arguing. Alas, it's late and I'm not tired yet... so...
In Silver we had a full roster, and we were getting destroyed. We dropped down from Silver because we were getting our asses handed to us. A few weeks after our drop to Bronze, we lost some people and attendance was down to a minimum.
So we recruited. End of story. We didn't drop down, recruit, and wail on anyone. Take a look at our record. I think you need to look elsewhere for reasons behind your loss.
Once again - the 3 new players that we had playing against you guys were:
Mr_Germ
Psi
Mexi
Germ played sol at our lower entrance. He has an extensive history as a Bronze and even a Copper player (his last clan was ViBig). Just because he's a good soldier doesn't mean he's a sandbagger. As if it's a crime to know how to play TFC in Bronze and Copper?
Psi - psi is quite good, I'll admit. However, when you take a look at his effect on our match vs. you guys, I don't think anyone can argue that he's the reason you lost. He was our Demoman, and only had 11 kills. Moving on...
Mexi - mexi is good Offense, but something tells me that with only 2 caps scored on us, we could have played with 1 Offense and still won it. I don't think Mexi is the culprit either.
So take your pick of who else you want to blame, from our more long-standing players (players who have been with us since our last time in Bronze, even). Sub? Sub has been with us forever. Sponge? So has he. Me? ROFL. Stratus? One of the oldest members of our group - hadn't played in months either. Sid and Metallix are the only ones left in the mix, and they have also both been with us for a very long time.
You argue as if Bronze has never seen a good Bronze player. We worked well together against you guys. YOu didn't work well together against us. It's that simple.
You want to argue about quality of players? Fine. We have some great players, and I'll be the first to admit to that. But that doesn't mean we're sandbagging. We've never thrown a match. We've lost a good number of matches in Bronze and TFL 3a. We still have 90% of the same roster that we had months ago. Sandbagging implies that we purposefully recruited and dropped/started in a division in order to get easy wins.
So far nLv vs. nZ is one of only two truly "easy wins" that we've had in months. Our last one was vs. dR on glead - in TFL 2a.
This isn't a flame. It's just... your accusations, opinions, and assumptions are completely ridiculous. Sandbagging implies that we dropped to Bronze intentionally and knowingly recruited players that would rape. That's far from the truth. Again - the vast majority of the players we have now, are the same players we had in Silver when we were getting spanked around. They're also the same players that we've had during all of our other Bronze losses.
Sigh... it's late, and I'm probably rambling. But sweet jesus fuck.

so wait, they are sandbagging because of quality of players.... too my knowledge nLv has recruited 5 players in the last few weeks.
psi
mexi
vampire
germ
fruityboy??
so 4 players from Bronze, and 1 from Copper. How is the quality of players higher than before? 3 of them are from ip, which was not exactly the hottest Bronze clan around...

Right on PSI! thats the truth. If I could get a decent dedicated sandbagger - that was cool - you bet I would... I mean we're here to have fun - and of course try to win.
Do football teams sandbag? LMAO! Its a game - and we have fun doing. NLV played awesomely and just tore us up - and I was in my 'mood' over what was going through nlv's mind about the TFL thing - but I'm over that now.
I see NLV moving up quickly - they did play very well together - very organized - good guys to play with - I had fun minus my cracked mind.
Just look at it like this ... We're the Dallas Cowboys and we suck ass sometimes - but sometimes we rock! lol! Gosh - I bet that can start a conversation now
Anyway - very gg NLV - you played with honor and integrity.

I'm guessing it's a map of sorts, and lots of pub players only play it, then unleash their extensive knowledge of this foreign map on foes from STA platinum, embarassing them in a game of "Neo Football_l." Thus, they are sandbagging by facing opponents way out of their league.
I thINK...

They aren't sandbaggers :( New maps always have really lopsided scores because strats are new and people aren't used to them.
