Writeup:
nLv over |3eer
Before I begin this writeup, let me first say that our match ended about 1 hour ago. Since then, and since the subsequent teardrops from a few Beer players, I took it upon myself to watch the rd2 HLTV 5 times through at varying 1x/2x/4x speeds, each time spectating a different nLv O player, and once spectating Beer's HW.
Been a little while since we played beer. Last time we played them was on Prolifique and it was a pretty close game, and mildly reminiscent of tonight's match. We ran 6 D on prolifique, including a swing engy, which was reason enough for one of beer's guys (who thankfully is no longer in their clan) to play pretty lame. Despite a pretty tragic history between the 2 of us, I've always thought beer was a cool group, and with the exception of a few, I still do.
Anyways, it's now 10:15 and I've got class early and a paper, so forgive me for making things short and sweet... sorta (lol).
Round 1
-------
We can't seem to get a hold of shade to run HLTV for us in rd1, and Nomad offers to run it for us a little too late. We run this round in |3eer's server, which for some is very good, and for otehrs very bad. Both teams had a few players in the upper 100's, ping-wise.
Oh well. The round starts and |3eer seems like they're going to take hold of this match with no problem at all. Their rushes dominate us and they pull off to a quick lead. It's 2-0 before nLv makes a cap, and soon we tie it up. For a little while Beer keeps capping, just barely holding onto their lead, before our O really clicks.
I'm stuck as engy tonight, so I couldn't see much of the O goodness that was happening. Suffice it to say, we had some pretty steadily flowing flag movement.
On the D side of things, |3eer really seems to know how to overrun my FR SG, so I finally just move it out to the RR area thing, where it does a LOT more good.
With Germ at my side, fraggin' spies right and left and saving my sg, and Sub up top to stop those pesky raining nades, we really seal things up tight (considering it's bloodtube, that is).
ied gets all of the stragglers from the cubby and bridge, and I get one magnificent det.
This was a great round for us. Given that I got stuck on D, we did really well, despite |3eer pummeling me and taking my SG down about every 4 seconds.
Rd1 Offense: ar6, fury, nomad, fru
Rd1 Defense: me, ied, tempest, germ, sub
Rd1 Score: 170-70 nLv!
Round 2
-------
Back in IRC, we take note that this is indeed bloodtube, and a 10 cap deficit isn't impossible to overcome in a well-played round. So we pretty much leave everything the same and head back to our server where Nomad kindly hosts HLTV>
Once again |3eer's rush gets the better of us and they take the lead. In no time though, nLv's tied it up, and the following 9 caps go to nLv before |3eer can answer back.
This round goes pretty much the same as the first one for us, with the exception of the last 10-15 minutes, according to HLTV.
Now, certain unnamed, brandless |3eers, vowed never to play against nLv again, due to the supposedly excessive OvO and lame gameplay. They had a few chipper players that just didn't quite grasp the scope of what they supposedly thought they were talking about.
So here we go... my amazing rebuttal... it's my clan after all, you can't expect to talk shit and get away with it. especially when it's baseless.
nLv Rd2 Offense
---------------
#### FURY ####
Fury was born in 1983; son of Harry and Elizabeth Fury. It wasn't long into his life before he noticed he had a knack for not only hitting baseballs, but also sucking the penis, and playing TFC. Due to events still-unknown to yours truly, he found his way to nLv, where he has been loved, fed and cared for ever since.
In round 2 of tonight's match, Fury played Medic and Spy, primarily, adorning the name "sex-Pac!" During his blissful romps through no-man's-land to the enemy flag room, he was occasionally confronted by an enemy offense.
Now here's the good part. Take a look at HLTV. Spec him 20 times if you want. You'll see him take a sum total of about 5 offensive pot shots throughout the round, up to his change to sniper.
The vast majority of these alleged OvO incidents, occurred when he had the flag and was running back to our base. Given that so many flags were let up (and that flag runners are fair game), it's understandable that he would want to protect himself. Afterall, who wouldn't?
At about 21 minutes into the round, following the occasional appearance of an offensive HW in nLv's base, Fury decided that this was not the life for him. He was destined for adventure. This thirst was quenched by the arrival via UPS of his brand new sniper rifle.
So out he went to the enemy base. On his magical journey, he happened to come across our flag on the bridge. What an opportunity to test his lameness! It was here that he did the only noticeable OvO on his part. He killed 2 offensive players during his sniping.
To Fury's short stint on the bridge, |3eer didn't hesitate to rebute with 2 offensive pyros and a sniper of their own. But fury was already done and on his way to the enemy base, where he would spend the next 3 or 4 minutes, before switching classes again, thus ending his thrilling adventures with OvO.
#### Fruityboy ####
We all know and love Fru. Married to the voluptuous FruityWoman, tonight he hoped to feed his sweet tooth for bloody knifings. He was spy, and shot an enemy offense maybe 2 or 3 times the entire round. Enough said.
#### ar6 ####
I used up all my good (if that's what you want to call it) material on fury and fru (damn those FRU/FUR names!). In any case, after spectating ar6, I noticed even fewer (if any at all) OvO incidents by him than I did with fru.
#### nomad ####
nomad is probably the cleanest tfc player I know. if you can find anywhere on the demos that he blatantly OvO'd in intentional excess, I will cut off my penis and send it to you in a care package.
|3eer rd2 Defense
-----------------
I only spec'd |3eer's HW to get an idea of what was going on, and I didn't spec him for the entire time. However, if you'll care to take a look, you'll see that he decided to make O runs into our base long before any OvO on our part, and long before anyone even thought about sniping on the bridge.
nLv's HW, on the other hand, made at the most 2 appearances in |3eer's base, 1 in which he was low on health, and switching to demoman on his next death.
For a whopping 15-20 seconds of rd2, we had a tripod (note: not even a complete SG) on the bridge, a sniper, and an HW.
For a whopping 25-30 minutes, |3eer had a Sol and HW on the bridge.
On top of all of that, |3eer's response to one appearance of an offensive nLv sniper, was to run 2 pyros. If that's your immediate response to something like that, then I suppose you deserve to be OvO'd.
I have two final points to make here.
1.) The guy on |3eer's team that complained the most about the supposed OvO, was a defensive player.
2.) |3eer sent an O HW before we did, played bridge D 90% of the round, ran 2 pyros as a response to one appearance of a sniper, and claimed that our OvO was beyond excess.
I invite you to submit rd2 to an STA admin. Have them spectate all of the nLv O's players (and our HW), then have them spectate all of |3eer's players (and your HW), and see what they think. The only time there was any blatant OvO on either side of the map, was after 2 pyros, an HW, a soldier and a demoman started throwing everything they had on the bridge. With that much bridge spam, I'm sorry, but you're bound to get shot.
If you truly think that there was excessive OvO (to the point that you will not play my clan again), then I think the only place for you in TFC is in a league of your own, where shooting is forbidden, and the only caps involved are the ones you wear on your heads.
I didn't intend for this to be a flame of a writeup, but it seems that some of your guys did an aweful lot of flaming, for an aweful lot of proveably false facts.
Back on track - once the pyros and snipers started flowing (afaik we only ran 2 snipers total, but only one at a time), I just decided to leave my sg down and make some O runs. If it's any consolation to either team, I wasn't OvO'd, and didn't OvO once the entire time that I was O'ing.
Rd2 Offense: ar6, nomad, fury, fru
Rd2 Defense: me, sub, tempest, ied, germ
Rd2 Score: 250-80 nLv!
Final
-----
I guess I did most of my final thoughts in my rd2 writeup... oh well.
Anyways. The TFC community knows that I'm one of the first people to hop on the NO OvO bandwagon. And I specifically said to |3eer in IRC after rd2 (before having watched the demos), that if it was as bad as they said it was, I would totally be on their side regarding it. I don't like it.
But after watching the demos, I just laughed a bit. There's a difference between 3 potshots in a 35 minute round, and what you guys were describing in IRC.
I've now spent a disturbingly long time on this writeup, and have officially run out of ways to put off writing a paper I have due tomorrow.
I will close with this though:
No hard feelings to beer. I've still got nothing but love for them. Just felt the need to defend myself and my team, given that all of the moaning was more likely the result of a tough 27 cap loss than an unrelenting OvO killing spree as described.
For shits and giggles, here are the logs from rd2:
http://www.x-head.com/nlv/logs/beernlv-bloodtube/rd2/
Feel free to look at who Fru, Fury, ar6, and Nomad have on their kill lists. Furthermore, feel free to note the classes of those players whose lives were tragically ended at their hands.
And furthemore feel free to note that between ar6, fruityboy, and nomad, only ONE offensive |3eer player died. nLv offense had a total of 9 OvO kills.
|3eer offense had a total of 14. Maybe that speaks for itself. I dunno.
Ok, I'm done. Now get to talking about how I don't have a life. Oh and crytfcfaggotandallthatgoodstuffthatireallydon'tmean. gg |3eer, sorry if you think it wasn't.
Final Score: 420-150 nLv!
