Writeup:
nLv over mcccxxxvii
Well, I won't write much for this one, due to the state of international affairs.
I will sum u pthe night, however:
nLv shows up with 6 players. Then a 7th comes. Then an 8th comes. Then the 7th and 8th both leave. We are left with 6. mcccxxxvii is kind enough to loan us one of their own players, and we play rd1 7 vs. 9. Should also add that despite having 9 players, saa was lagging a lot and dropping frequently from the server. So I guess it was more like 7 vs. 8.
Most of rd1 is pretty even. Our runners are getting everywhere pretty quickly and just barely keeping pace with the leet ones. But we made the mistake of running without an engineer, due to our short staff, and mcccxxxvii got 2 all-caps in pretty quick succession, putting them up quite a bit.
I think nLv may have gotten one too towards the end, but maybe not... Either way, we come back to IRC thiking somewhat positive thoughts. With an engy in rd2, we should be able to hold off the all-caps, and hopefully our runners can pick up the slack.
In rd2 we find 1 more straggler in IRC and end up with 7 players on our own. Again we say we'll play with 7 unless they want to give us another guy. In a classy move, they once again let us borrow Coco, and rd2 starts 8 vs. 9. This time, at least everyone stays in the server with decent connections.
nLv comes out strong in this round. We hold most of the points for the majority, working up a 20-30 point lead without any all-caps. we're still under-staffed, so sponge stops soldiering and goes to DM'ing medic instead, so it's quicker.
Our runners do well, considering that shake is one of them. He didn't want to run flags, but we made him because he loves us and I love him. So about halfway through the round we get a renegade scout in to kill their SG, and nomad follows up quickly to get the all-cap. Not too long after that, mcccxxxvii capture their home and near point. nomad waits at their home while I grab their near point, and he nabs another all-cap for the invalids.
The rest of the round is pretty uneventful. They come close to getting our home CP, but never really taste the wonders of an all-cap in rd2.
We're able to hold enough points for enough time in rd2 to take the lead and keep it by round's end.
A few suspicions were noted, but we'll see how all of that turns out. All-in-all, I had fun, and many thanks to mcccxxxvii for being good sports every time we've played them, and allowing us to use one of their own players in the name of some good 'ol TFC.
