nLv over K}{R

I'll save most of my writeup tonight for next Thursday, when we'll probably have an equally intense match with these guys in TFL (I'll try to, anyways).

We get monkey_l on our server with about 20 minutes to go before match time, and given that it's 8v8, we actually havea pretty decent showing tonight - about 9 people, give or take 1. We get a really brief practice in, and a rough strategy, then head into K}{R's server.

Round 1
-------
Since my ping is attrocious, and I'm contemplating watching 24 tonight, I sit out for rd1, then decide NOT to watch 24, and then begrudgingly spec the entire round in HLTV with about 200 extra K}{R players.

The round starts, and K}{R's ripping us apart at the front door, but somehow we're managing to get inside. I think nLv takes the first lead, and for most of the round I think we're up.

About halfway through, right around the time when sirviper asks "what's the score?", K}{R breaks away and ties it, then pulls into a lead that they hold for the remainder of the round.

They get 2 teleporters up - I have no idea where they went to ... 1 in the water, I think - and hammer our D with a spy and engy duo.

nLv makes a pull in the waning minutes of the round, making it look like it's gonna be a 1 cap round, but right at the same time I see K}{R coming out with one of their own.

There are reports of OvO, but I spent most of my HLTV time in K}{R's flag room, so I didn't see what went on. Either way, K}{R sends us back to IRC black and blue, and Sid retreats with his penis tucked in between his legs, and Tuan very confused, thinking it's a vagina, trying to lick it.

Round 2

Fury's hot girlfriend comes over and he has to leave, so I come in to save the day. None of us really like the water tele on this map (probably because we were getting raped with it), so we ask if they want to do rd2 without it. They decline, so we alter our O strat a bit, leaving the D the same.

This round we came to play in honor of the late David Palmer and Michelle Dessler-Almeda. And with Tony in our hearts, we fought the K}{R machine and made surgical strikes into their hearts, to produce, with shock and awe, many a flag.

I take a hint from K}{R and run O engy to counter theirs. Apparently we shoot (and supposedly chase) their engy a few times, collecting our fair share of grief from Bill, and create quite a fuss in IRC as a result after the round ends. But that comes later.

Aside from our notoriously attrocious and dispicable, and whatever other words the Knights called us after rd2, this was an intense round.

nLv stayed on top this time, taking a 3 cap lead for a good portion of the round. With about 8 minutes left, sirviper catches on and destroys most of my efforts at O engy'ing the water. Soon thereafter, with our Offense slowed to a crawl, K}{R pulls another flag out to tie things up.

Then, much to our chagrin, they pull ANOTHER one and take the lead. nLv sits, with the K}{R flag still in the FR, and about 3-4 minutes left on the clock, down a cap, and very depressed.

Tuan types "gg" with 60 seconds left, and the K}{R flag still sitting the FR. I motivate him by encouraging sid to play the rest of the round with his penis tucked between his legs, and sure enough, it does the trick!

nLv pulls the flag out in a miraculous stunt of homogayness, and tuan craters with it at our front door with about 7 seconds left. I, being the amazing TFC player I am, manage to snag it and cap it with about 3 seconds left, sending us and the knights into one hell of an overtime round 3!

Back in IRC, a few of K}{R are all fire and brimstone about our horrible play-style, and apparently unacceptable (though not so much as to warrant a dispute...) OvO that, to my knowledge, didn't take place (again, I didn't watch HLTV, and I'm not omniscient, therefore, the odds that I am mistaken are about 1:300000). After a little session of needless bickering and threats of going to an admin, I return to our priv to discuss rd3.

We tinker with the idea of running 5 O and 3 D, but decide that stopping K}{R's rush is going to be more important, and that 4 D is going to get the job done a lot better. So we run the same thing in rd3, and from the looks of it, so did K}{R.

The round starts, and everyone's shaking in their shoes, but we mange to make the first touch, which K}{R soon returns on us. K}{R then makes a touch which also returns.

I don't quite remember the circumstances by which it happened, but we grabbed a flag and edged it to the front door. Thanks to my amazing EMP spam from the water we inch it outside, where K}{R puts up a last-ditch, and very valiant defense.

I think they came close to even returning it in the yard, with their demo making some great saves. And *gasp* I even got OvO'd on the bridge while going for it. THESE ATTROCITIES ON THE DAY OF MLKJR WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN SOON! Ok, I forgot.

Anyways, out of the spam comes a sexy little medic or something, and he comes out with the flag. The K}{R O makes a few saves on its way into our base, but not enough to stop it from going where it belonged.

nLv brings it home about 5'ish minutes into the round (I think?) and seals the deal in one hell of a match!

So I don't want to turn this into a flame fest. I don't agree with your reasoning for pitching such a fit in IRC - but again, I haven't watched any of the HLTV's yet. I think it'd have to be pretty bad for most people to get that fired up about, and I guess I'd just be surprised to see that it was. Given the nature of the map and the water tunnels, and the fact that it's somehow legal to shoot an O tele, but lame to shoot the O engy that builds it, I don't really see what the big deal is.

So if you guys really want to hold a grudge over a handful of incidents and 1 player, and play lame in thursdays match, then by all means go for it. I can't imagine - except for a few of you maybe - that it'd be all that fun. I'm sorry you were cheated out of the perfect storybook TFC win because of a lame clan that has 2 STA admins playing on it, that's been in STA for longer than you, and been around for almost as long as you have.

You guys are awesome in my book - hopefully that doesn't change this thursday.

Regardless, this was a really intense and well played match on both ends. K}{R came within inches of taking it home with them in both of the first 2 rounds, but we just managed to get lucky.

I'm looking forward to next Thursday (hopefully I won't regret my optimism), and congratulate you guys on your upcoming anniversary and match milestone!
